SOFIQS History

As multi-discipline specializing on general aspects of Quantity Surveying:

The SOFIQS is generally focusing on Quantity Surveying profession. This has been organised fo the general welfare and expertise through the participation of diverse professional members such as: Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Architects, Accountants, Commerce Graduates, and others. The professional aim of SOFIQS is entirely to establish the camaraderie in lined with the educational purpose and dedication bringing the members to become a solid QS to be working/joining with different companies/organizations in the world. This is somewhat perfect to be used as their foundation to be recognized, maintain or improve quantity surveying ability and skills.

SOFIQS is indeed the sole government/private sectors' affiliated Quantity Surveying organization by Professional Filipino Members based in the Middle East; and gaining popularity worldwide in serving the Multi-disciplined Filipino Engineers. SOFIQS officers in-charged in education are used to providing its members and other affiliated colleagues enough and sufficient Educational Traininigs/Seminars in various ways and means. The steps consist of many educational activities which primarily boost the capability and strong background of a potential Quantity Surveyor. The process helps to maintain, develop or increase thier knowledge, problem-solving, technical skills or professional performance standards all with the goal that SOFIQS Quantity Surveyor can provide better service to his/her career in the Construction industry.

As a government first registered and original Filipino Quantity Surveying organization:

SOFIQS continuing growth and development imminently showcasing the outstanding service to the Professional Filipinos originating from the Middle East, later existing to the Southeast Asia, and the rest continents of the world. The organization keeps an eye for the betterment of the members by providing most updated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as a primary education of QS aside from those formal trainings/seminars being conducted back when SOFIQS had just started. Many optional criterias of CPD have been formailzed to nourish the minds of each and every members that include 'formal' activities, e.g. courses, conferences and workshops, as well as self-directed activities such as preceptorship and directed reading. We considered our organization as unique true and sole Filipino group of globally competitive Quantity Surveyors. The Filipinos Organization itself is deemed also to be the first of a kind in the quantity surveying history in the Philippines.

SOFIQS, Inc. HISTORY

Society of Filipino Quantity Surveyors, Inc. (SOFIQS), A Society of Filipino Professionals (Civil Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and Architects) working as Quantity Surveyors or Cost Estimators in Land Industries, including Properties and Construction Industries worldwide.

SOFIQS was organized and founded by Engr. Eddie R. Pilaspilas in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in October 2008.

The organization started out from Saudi Oger Ltd. It was registered as one of the Filipino Community's Organizations in the Philippine Consulate of KSA in Jeddah last March 2009.

SOFIQS was also registered as non-profit organization at the Securities & Exchange Commission in the Philippines under the name SOFIQS, Inc.

On November 27, 2009, the original group was formally splitted in two Chapters, the Jeddah Chapter and the Riyadh Chapter to accommodate the growing number of members of the Society.

To date the organization had already more than 400 members from different companies in Saudi Arabia and in United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, including the Philippines and other parts of the world.
